FIRSTENERGY CORPORATION SUPPORTS REGIONAL GROWTH

Lewistown, PA – FirstEnergy Corporation, provider of electric services to Mifflin County and throughout Pennsylvania is investing $1,000 in Focus Central Pennsylvania to support regional growth by promoting the region to attract new corporate investment. A check was presented by FirstEnergy-Penelec Economic Development Manager JP Tambourine to Nick Felice, Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC) a member of Focus Central PA and Lauren Bryson, Executive Director of Focus Central Pennsylvania.

FirstEnergy Corporation is headquartered in Akron, OH. Penelec, the subsidiary servicing Mifflin County and approximately 30 other counties throughout Pennsylvania, is based in Erie, PA. FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) expects to invest about $453 million in 2018 on distribution and transmission infrastructure projects to help enhance reliability for approximately 590,000 customers in the Pennsylvania Electric Company’s (Penelec) service territory.  Major projects scheduled in 2018 throughout Penelec’s 31-county area include building new substations and transmission lines, installing equipment in existing substations, adding remote control equipment on circuits, and inspecting and replacing utility poles.
