Shamokin Dam, PA – North Shore Railroad Company, rail freight service provider to the Central Pennsylvania region and proponent of community development, is investing in regional growth with a sponsorship of $3,000 to Focus Central Pennsylvania (Focus). On February 5th, 2015 North Shore Railroad Company representatives Gary Shields, President & CEO; Joe Kantz, Marketing Representative; and Todd Hunter, Director of Marketing provided a check presentation of their annual commitment to representatives of Focus Don Alexander, Chairman of the Board; Eric Winslow, Member of the Focus Board and Lauren Bryson, Executive Director of Focus.
As part of the North Shore Railroad’s commitment to conduct their business with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism and be responsible civic partners with the communities they serve, they have chosen to invest in Focus Central Pennsylvania’s efforts to attract new companies to the region that can provide family sustaining employment opportunities and regional growth.
Focus is a non-profit, 501(c)3, regional economic development marketing alliance that dedicates 100 percent of its time and resources to attracting corporate investment in the region to create jobs. Focus currently serves six contiguous counties in the central region of Pennsylvania with a total population of 311,000; a total labor force of 137,000; and nearly 12,000 business establishments. The counties and major cities include Columbia (Bloomsburg, Berwick); Montour (Danville); Union (Lewisburg, Mifflinburg); Snyder (Selinsgrove); Northumberland (Sunbury, Milton); and Mifflin (Lewistown).

The Northumberland, PA, based North Shore Railroad Company operates six short line railroads and provides quality regional rail freight service to customers in Central Pennsylvania. North Shore Railroad is the long time private operator for the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority. The Joint Rail Authority is an eight county municipal authority and property owner of five of the rail lines NSHR operates. The Joint Rail Authority’s mission is to preserve and foster rail service in Central Pennsylvania and to further economic development through retention, improvement and expansion of the infrastructure and the rail service it supports.
