SNYDER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SUPPORTS REGIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH

Middleburg, PA – The Snyder County Commissioners, community leaders working closely with many through their county and region to drive smart growth, are investing in regional growth with an investment of $7,500 to support the mission of Focus Central Pennsylvania (Focus).
Commissioners Joseph E. Kantz, Chairman; Lee E. Knepp, Vice Chairman, and Peggy Chamberlain Roup, Secretary presented a check of their annual commitment to Lauren Bryson, Executive Director of Focus Central PA.

Commissioner Joseph E. Kantz, Chairman says “We’ve seen a lot of economic growth in our county in recent years. Private investment has brought over $1 billion dollars of economic activity. The Commissioners believe there is more to come and have invested in further economic growth by way of FOCUS Central PA. They are continually “out there” promoting our region to companies who are looking for an area that has the infrastructure, the workforce or the stable tax base. We look forward to what FOCUS can help us accomplish in this endeavor.”

Snyder County is in the middle of unprecedented private and public investment projects totalling billions of dollars to support smart economic growth for the region. Home to a vibrant and growing downtown, and a world-class university, Susquehanna University, that not only educates their 2,100+ students annually but provides community enrichment programs and events. The unemployment rate in Snyder County is 4.9%, below the US average of 5.2% and the County has had positive job growth and several small and large business growth projects announced. The cost of living is 10.10% lower than the US average and home appreciation is up 1.4% in the last 12 months with the median home cost at $156,000. There are great schools in Snyder County with 15.1 student per teacher ratio. Average commute time to work is 23 minutes along uncongested highways with beautiful views of the river valleys and mountains. It is an exciting time for positive, sustainable growth in Snyder County and Central Pennsylvania and the leaders are excited to support efforts to effectively promote the opportunities available for investment and career opportunity growth.
