Shamokin Dam, PA – At the annual meeting of Focus Central Pennsylvania, held on Thursday, December 11th, board members were recognized for their contribution and new officers were elected who will begin their term on January 1, 2015.  The Board of Directors of Focus Central Pennsylvania provide policy and strategic direction to advance the mission of the organization.  Focus effectively promotes new corporate investment that results in growth of family sustaining jobs in Central Pennsylvania by being a premier economic development marketing alliance for committed partners.

Recognized at the annual meeting for their contribution and commitment to the Focus Central Pennsylvania mission and region were outgoing board members Bob Zimmerman (Susquehanna Industrial Development Corporation); Steve Phillips (Columbia Alliance for Economic Growth); and Philip Pelletier (Columbia Alliance for Economic Growth). Mr. Zimmerman served Focus Central Pennsylvania collectively for over 17 years. “It has been a pleasure to work with such a fine Board since 1997; they see the success of the region as the main part of FOCUS Central Pa’s Mission! The Board understands regionalism is most important and that parochial feelings are set aside in order to improve all of the entire Susquehanna Valley!” said outgoing board member Bob Zimmerman.

The officers elected to serve for 2015 are Don Alexander, Chair (Union County Economic Development); Rob Postal, Vice Chair (Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation); Pat Mack, Treasurer (Northumberland County Planning Department); and Lauren Bryson, Secretary. “I am honored to have been elected to serve a second term as Chair of Focus Central Pennsylvania,” said Chair-elect Alexander, adding “with its re-invigorated Board and leadership Focus is making great strides in the highly competitive world of attracting new companies and jobs to our region.”

Focus Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit dedicating 100% of its time and resources to attracting corporate investment in the region to create jobs.  Focus currently serves six (6) contiguous counties in the central part of Pennsylvania, USA with a total population of 311,000; a total labor force of 137,000; nearly 12,000 business establishments; 3 major universities that enroll around 14,900 students and over 10 career and technical schools. The counties and major cities include Columbia (Bloomsburg, Berwick); Montour (Danville); Union (Lewisburg, Mifflinburg); Snyder (Selinsgrove); Northumberland (Sunbury, Milton); and Mifflin (Lewistown).

The 2015-2017 Strategic Plan and 2015 Plan and Budget were also approved and include several marketing investments to include events such as Site Selectors Guild 2015; NPE2015 The International Plastics Showcase; Supply Chain Familiarization Tour; and Site Selectors Guild Regional Event as well as continuation of Zoom Prospector to provide leading edge technology to promote the region.
